Dry January

Dry January is a public health campaign urging people to abstain from alcohol for the month of January. It isn’t about giving anything up - it’s about getting something back.

Why do Dry January?

Research in 2018 by the Royal Free Hospital and published in the British Medical Journal found that a month off alcohol:

  • Lowers blood pressure
  • Reduces diabetes risk
  • Lowers cholesterol
  • Reduces levels of cancer-related proteins in the blood

Also, research conducted by the University of Sussex found that six months after Dry January, more than 70% of people who take a month off alcohol using the Try Dry app are still drinking more healthily.

70% of people sleep better
86% of people save money
65% of people notice generally improved health
