PARACETAMOL

Need short term pain relief?

You can buy Paracetamol from a pharmacy or supermarket, please don't request them on prescription*. In Devon we spend around £2.5 million each year on prescribed Paracetamol, this is the equivalent of :

103 community nurses

119 drug treatment cures for breast cancer

453 hip replacements

2966 drug treatment courses for Alzheimer's

3481 Cataract operations

A BOX OF 32 PARACETAMOL TABLETS ON PRESCRIPTION COSTS THE NHS FOUR TIMES * AS MUCH AS IT DOES TO BUY THEM FROM A PHARMACY OR SUPERMARKET * approximately

* if you are already regularly prescribed Paracetamol for chronic pain you won't be affected.

48 hours notice is required for processing prescriptions.

Your prescription has a tear off slip with your repeat medicines listed. When you require a further repeat tick the box by the medicine you require and either hand it into the health centre in the box provided inside the main reception entrance or post it to us.
