PARACETAMOL

Need short term pain relief?

You can buy Paracetamol from a pharmacy or supermarket, please don't request them on prescription*. In Devon we spend around £2.5 million each year on prescribed Paracetamol, this is the equivalent of :

103 community nurses

119 drug treatment cures for breast cancer

453 hip replacements

2966 drug treatment courses for Alzheimer's

3481 Cataract operations

A BOX OF 32 PARACETAMOL TABLETS ON PRESCRIPTION COSTS THE NHS FOUR TIMES * AS MUCH AS IT DOES TO BUY THEM FROM A PHARMACY OR SUPERMARKET * approximately

* if you are already regularly prescribed Paracetamol for chronic pain you won't be affected.

48 hours notice is required for processing prescriptions.

Your prescription has a tear off slip with your repeat medicines listed. When you require a further repeat tick the box by the medicine you require and either hand it into the health centre in the box provided inside the main reception entrance or post it to us.

Of course if you prefer, you can order your repeat medication via this website by completing the request form following the link on this page or register at the practice for full online services - more details available from the practice or follow the links on our home page.

If you would like the prescription to be posted to you, please provide a stamped addressed envelope.

Requests for prescriptions cannot be taken over the telephone, except in an emergency.

Arrangements can be made with the local chemist,  South Brent Pharmacy,  to collect your prescriptions. By using this service you can contact them and ask for them to order your regular medication. You can then collect your medication from the Pharmacy ( Please allow 48 hours for the surgery to process this and a further 24 hours for the pharmacy to dispense the items).

South Brent Pharmacy also offer a delivery service of your medication if you live locally.  Please speak to Phil or Russell at the Pharmacy for further information.

Please note that if you do request a specific pharmacy this will be added to your medication notes so that all your prescriptions are forwarded to them.

This practice is able to send your prescription electronically to a pharmacy of your choice.  If you usually come into the Health Centre to collect your prescription you can now nominate a preferred pharmacy and we will be able to send the prescription directly to them electronically which can save you time,  Please speak to reception for more details.

We also have arrangements in place to forward prescriptions to Boots  Day Lewis & Ivybridge Pharmacies.  Please inform us if you wish to use any of these services. The Ivybridge Pharmacy offers a free collection and delivery service of your prescription

At times the doctors may request to see you before issuing a repeat prescription, if this is the case you will be contacted and asked to make an appointment.
